Why it stays with you

Guests ski to the door in the morning and walk into a gala in the same building at night. Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono is the only ski resort in the Park Hyatt portfolio worldwide: ski-in/ski-out onto the Hanazono slopes, with Mount Yotei and the Annupuri range in the windows. What separates it from a very good hotel is the Events Village attached to it—a free-standing chapel of about 84 square meters by Nikken Sekkei, ringed by water, plus two event halls, an open show kitchen and a private wine cellar.

So a brand evening can run like this. The group clicks in at the door and skis through the daylight, then gathers in the banquet hall, the same room turning over into a fashion show, a gala dinner or a reception. The chef works in the open at the show kitchen, bottles come up from the cellar, and the ceremonial half of the evening moves into the chapel with the snow mountains beyond. Nobody leaves the resort or crosses between buildings on a sub-zero night: stay, dining, performance and ceremony close in one loop.

This settles the hardest question in business events and incentive travel: how to house a high-end team properly in one of the great snow landscapes and still stage an event with standing. The Park Hyatt name carries the poise, the Events Village carries the execution, and Yotei's snow carries the part nothing else can supply. What a group takes away here is not an event but one continuous story, from the first run of the morning to the gala.
