Why it stays with you

One of the largest seafood markets in the world. The intermediate wholesalers' area is for the trade and general shoppers can't buy there, but the visitors' walkway is open from 5:00 to 17:00 and you can watch the tuna auctions with all their intensity from it. If you want a closer look, there is also the visitors' deck, which works on advance reservation. There are 38 restaurants in total, and 'Uogashi Yokocho' has around 70 retail shops, so watching the auction and then having breakfast is the natural sequence. Viewing is free. It's generally closed Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays, so the first thing is to get the day of the week right. The rooftop garden plaza stays open even on market holidays, with views of the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower.
