Nara has the highest density of World Heritage in Japan and long had nowhere to seat a thousand delegates. The Nara Prefectural Convention Center filled that gap. It is the largest conference facility in the prefecture, and it stands between the Heijo Palace Site and Nara Park with World Heritage on every side.
Its core is a conference hall for 2,000 and the Tempyo Hall, but what surrounds it matters more. The JW Marriott Nara is next door, and the World Heritage sites and prospective unique venues nearby are all within walking distance. The result is rare: business events on foot. The conference runs here, delegates sleep in the adjoining hotel, and dinner and the reception can move into the cultural spaces of Todaiji, into Kasuga Taisha, or into Shisui. The World Heritage of the old capital becomes the conference's extended stage.
